We are pleased and proud to announce our Honorary Chair for the 9th Annual Asian Cultural Festival – Supervisor Kristin Gaspar!  Mira Mesa, home to the Asian Cultural Festival, is in her district, and we are happy to have her celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with us!

Supervisor Kristin Gaspar is the newest member of the Board and is currently the Vice Chairwoman. She was elected in November of 2016 becoming the first person to beat a Board incumbent in 32 years. Gaspar is the youngest woman ever elected to the Board. She comes to the office as the first directly elected Mayor of Encinitas as well as former City Council Member. The Supervisor was born and raised in North County and is proud to represent her hometown community.

She lives in Encinitas with her husband and three children. Supervisor Gaspar’s third district stretches from the coast to the inland valleys of Escondido, representing more than 600,000 people.

Before being elected Supervisor, Gaspar was CFO of the physical therapy company she and her husband, Paul, started from the ground up in 2002. That business has now grown to seven offices and employs 140 employees. She is very involved in her children’s schools and she enjoys coaching the La Costa Canyon Pop Warner Cheerleading Squad. The Supervisor is active in her Rotary Club and loves volunteering to help the elderly and those with Alzheimer’s and related dementia.
